Certificates awarded by AWCI are valid for a limited time. The EIFS Mechanic and EIFS Industry Professional certificates are valid for five years, and the EIFS Inspector certificate for three years. Your certificate's expiration date is listed on your certificate and wallet card, and also on the national Certification Roster. You must renew your credential prior to its expiration date by meeting all recertification requirements as outlined in the recertification packet.
Important New Policies
Inspectors who work for contractors, manufacturers. or distributors:: If your certification category is EIFS Inspector and you are currently employed by a contractor, manufacturer or distributor, you are not eligible to renew as an EIFS Inspector. You may switch to the EIFS Industry Professional category. To do this, complete the Industry Professional recertification packet.
Industry Professionals renewing for the second time: If this is your second renewal as an EIFS Industry Professional, then you must take and pass the EIFS certification exam by Dec. 31, 2012. (If you were originally certified in 2002 and renewed for the first time in 2007, then this would be your second renewal.) See the recertification packet for additional information.
If you are required to take the EIFS certification exam, you will be emailed the updated EIFSummary Handbook upon receipt of your recertification application to help you prepare for the exam.
Recertification packets for 2012 will be available here in June.

By renewing your credential as an EIFS Mechanic, EIFS Industry Professional or EIFS Inspector, you:
- Demonstrate your commitment to provide quality services by staying up-to-date with industry standards for correct installation.
- Prepare yourself to meet future mandates and insurance requirements.
- Receive an updated certificate and wallet card.
- Continue to be listed on AWCI's National Registry.
If you decide not to renew and you find yourself in need of the credential at a later date, you will have to complete the entire education and certification process over as if you had never been certified.
